Art for Offices, Medical Practices and Law Firms: 7 Tips

How to find art that fits your space, your brand and your people – from reception to waiting room and meeting room.

Art in an office, medical practice or law firm is more than decoration. It shapes the first impression for clients and patients, shows what a company stands for and makes spaces where people spend many hours more pleasant. Fine art photography is particularly well suited: contemporary, versatile and calm and clear even in large formats.

1. Start with the space

Before choosing images, look at the room: wall area, ceiling height, light, colours and materials. A reception with a high wall calls for one large work; a long corridor can carry a series.

2. Choose the right format

A rule of thumb: the work should cover about two thirds of the width of the furniture or wall it hangs above. Small pictures get lost in large rooms. Fine art prints are available from 75 × 50 cm to 210 × 140 cm.

3. Match your brand and your place

Art can make values visible: architecture photography stands for clarity and precision, portrait photography for people and personality. City-related images work especially well: they show local roots and spark conversation. In a Stuttgart practice or law firm, images of the TV Tower, Schlossplatz or the Opera feel familiar and refined at the same time – patients and clients recognise their city.

Works by Daniel Stauch featuring Stuttgart motifs are already on permanent display in Stuttgart practices – including Sportpraxis Stuttgart, the Orthopädische Klinik Paulinenhilfe and the ZahnServiceCenter.

4. Treat different areas differently

Reception can make a statement. Meeting rooms – in companies or law firms – need works that convey calm and seriousness and support focus. In a practice’s waiting room, calm, familiar images create a relaxed atmosphere. In work areas and quiet zones, calmer images work best.

5. Insist on quality and durability

Office art often hangs in daylight for years. Fine art prints on Hahnemühle Photo Rag, mounted on Dibond, are lightfast, flat and robust – and can be framed.

6. Limited editions, not mass prints

A limited, signed work with a certificate of authenticity is unique in the space and remains an asset of the company. Open-edition prints that exist thousands of times feel interchangeable. Our guide explains what makes a limited edition fine art print.

7. Get expert advice

A gallery can match images, formats and hanging to your spaces – with on-site visualisation on request.
